“The Ego”

There are numerous misconceptions surrounding the concept of the ego, so let’s clarify its meaning in a straightforward manner.

The ego serves as a shield, concealing the darker aspects of our inner selves. It is formed through mental constructs that allow us to evade the negativity within.

Consider this example:

Imagine an individual who is perpetually angry. Their thoughts are filled with rage, and impatience defines their demeanor. Yet, outwardly, they display no signs of anger towards others and avoid confrontation.

This person may also experience physical issues such as poor functioning in their lower body and a flat backside, leading to regular constipation and occasional IBS if their diet is not carefully managed.

On the surface, they project an image of calmness, but their behavior does not reflect the qualities of a truly patient individual. Consequently, whenever they respond with anger, the fragile facade of their composed ego is shattered. The duration of their anger typically correlates with their level of mental awareness.

If they were to cultivate genuine calmness, they would not react with anger; instead, they would replace those feelings with emotions of tranquility and patience. This ability to remain calm and collected in any situation enables them to observe rather than react, even amidst chaos.

This illustrates one aspect of the ego in action—how we mask our inner darkness with mental constructs that fail to address the root causes. It is all about energy, and unless we recognize the energy within ourselves, we remain unaware of the underlying experiences that unfold beyond our conscious perception.

We experience eight core emotions that can manifest either positively or negatively. Until we engage in the necessary internal work to halt our triggers, we have not delved deep enough into our darkness to truly understand ourselves. As a result, we escape into fragile illusions. Genuine healing requires us to dismantle these illusions and confront the fears that reside within us.

Only then can we gain a true understanding of our nature and break free from a life shrouded in deception. Ultimately, the ego, like all states of consciousness, is merely a construct. Unless we critically examine it, we remain oblivious to its true essence.

The more insight we gain into who we are across these sixteen states of being, the easier it becomes to maintain a sense of enlightenment. This enlightenment is a facet of ourselves that we consciously choose to nurture. It all comes down to choice: the thoughts we entertain ultimately shape the energy within us.

Namaste 🙏
